Home buyer, financial counseling, and rental education is provided at MHAGH to empower our communities and enhance leadership.
These workshops are for homeowners who own and occupy their homes and are in default and/or in danger of foreclosure. This course covers Fair Housing rights, consequences of mortgage default and foreclosure, foreclosure prevention programs and resources, and the State of Connecticut's Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program (EMAP). These workshops will also discuss foreclosure procedures and timelines, the Judicial Mediation Program, identifying predatory lending, and how to obtain foreclosure prevention counseling with one of the CHFA/HUD Approved Housing Counseling Agencies located throughout the State of Connecticut. Enrollment in One-on-One Foreclosure Prevention Counseling provides a housing counselor that will work with you, free of charge, to address your financial issues and negotiate a plan with your lender on your behalf, to prevent or resolve foreclosure. Any Connecticut homeowner facing default or foreclosure is eligible to register.
Classes are offered monthly from 6:00 p.m. . to 8:00 p.m.
